Where it all begins

The Pitilie Burn

Aberfeldy is built around a single source of water. The Pitilie Burn runs down from the Perthshire hills just above the distillery, and it — not any mains supply — is what fills every mash. Soft, clear and low in minerals, it is said locally to flow over gold-bearing rock, which is how the whisky earned its nickname: the golden dram.
